Sustainability and Social Procurement Lead
Embed social and sustainable procurement into tenders and live projects, balancing compliance, commercial outcomes and genuine community impact.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Head of People and Culture, you’ll own and drive Mazzei’s social procurement and sustainability agenda across Victoria and South Australia, from tender through to project delivery.
You’ll work closely with leadership, procurement, delivery teams and external partners to ensure commitments aren’t just met - but meaningfully delivered and proudly showcased.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and deliver Social Procurement Strategy (FY25–28), including working group facilitation and executive reporting
Provide expert advice on Victorian and South Australian government procurement policies, including:
Local Jobs First
Victorian Social Procurement Framework
Building Equality Policy
Recycled First Policy
SA Industry Participation Policy (SAIPP)
Develop and embed competitive tender responses with strong social procurement and sustainability commitments
Support live projects to deliver contracted LIDP, social procurement and BEP targets
Build strong relationships with social benefit suppliers, employment providers and subcontractors
Own government reporting, data integrity and compliance across projects
Identify and integrate sustainable product alternatives into specifications and documentation
Develop internal tools, supplier hubs and capability shortlists
Capture case studies and work with Marketing to showcase outcomes
Drive innovation initiatives that position Mazzei as an industry leader
About You
You’re commercially savvy, values-driven and comfortable operating across strategy, delivery and stakeholder engagement.
You’ll bring:
Demonstrated experience in social procurement and/or sustainability within construction
Strong working knowledge of government procurement frameworks (VIC & SA)
Confidence engaging with senior leaders, bid teams, site teams and external partners
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
A practical understanding of construction delivery and terminology
Highly regarded:
Experience in procurement or contract administration
Project reporting experience
Established networks in social procurement or sustainability
Familiarity with sustainability certifications and low-carbon products
